Richmond United’s Developmental Player (DP) program has been established to provide higher achieving players from our parent clubs access to the RU training environment on a consistent basis as part of their individual development process. The DP program runs concurrently with our full Richmond United seasonal calendar, and includes the following:

• Developmental Players will be eligible to attend up to 3 Richmond United training sessions per week
  • DPs will be invited to attend RU training on nights when they do not have training with their parent club team
  • Once a training plan has been established between the player, Richmond United, and the players’ Kickers/Strikers coach, the player will be added to the corresponding RU TeamSnap so they can update their availability for each planned session
• Developmental Players who are consistent in their attendance will also be included in our cyclical player evaluation process, and receive feedback periodically throughout the Fall season
• Access to all Richmond United supplemental meetings, clinics, and informational sessions, including nutrition seminars, college recruiting seminars, sleep seminars, etc.

The DP program is a great platform for players to augment their current training environments and provide additional training opportunities throughout each seasonal year. While DP players may find themselves involved in matches and promotion to each age group’s first team, it is important to note the following:

• Developmental Players must be actively rostered with one of our parent clubs, the Richmond Kickers and Richmond Strikers
• There is no guarantee of DP participation in Richmond United matches throughout the season
  • Each full time roster will have a varied number of players and needs throughout the year
  • Match participation is also dependent on coordination with each player’s Kickers/Strikers team and coach
• Placement within the DP program is not a guarantee of future placement within Richmond United as either a full time player or DP in subsequent seasons
  • RU’s player evaluation process is continual and fluctuation between full time and DP rosters is common from year to year

The cost of the 2024/2025 Richmond United DP program is as follows:

• U13 to U14 - $375 per fall and spring season
• U15 to U19 - $1280 per seasonal year
  • This fee includes all player registration, insurance, and rental fees, but does not include travel costs should players be invited to participate in out of town events and showcases
  • This fee does not include the DP training kit, but match day uniforms will be provided in the event a DP is asked to participate in RU games

The DP program is an invitation/evaluation only based program.
